Unless mid-flight meltdowns or backseat WWF throwdowns are your thing, we recommend you load up your devices with these preschool & toddler-friendly apps before your next flight or road trip.

If your travel companions fall in the under-5 crowd, consider yourself lucky – no eye-rolling and minimal talking back! At this age, they are still young enough to be enthralled by the iPad and not old enough to always need to make their own decision. This is a great age, where you can pick and choose the apps you want your kids to have access too with minimal input (complaints) from the end users! These are our favorite apps for this age group:

Monkey Preschool Lunchbox:
The #1 preschool game in the app store. Learn and have fun by helping monkey pack lunch! Monkey Preschool Lunchbox is a collection of seven exciting educational games for your preschooler (ages 2 to 5).

Pogg – Kids Game For Language:
Pogg is a game that will help your kids learn words, objects, actions and have a great time in the process.

Toca Robot Lab:
Build your own robot with Toca Robot Lab. With all the tools and materials you need, Toca Robot Lab lets kids get creative. Once completed, you can test your robot in our state of the art test flight facility. Collect stars and knock over blocks while zooming around the robot track. Find the giant magnet and get your Toca Robot Lab test report.

Toca Kitchen Monsters:
Ever wanted to play with your food? Now you can! In this Monster edition of the super-hit Toca Kitchen, you can cook and play with food for two hungry monsters. Pick any ingredient and prepare it in your own way. Slice, boil, fry, cook, microwave or mix? And wait for the response from the hungry monster.

Toca Life: Town:
You rule this Town, a play world where anything and everyone is welcome! With different locations and many classic Toca Boca characters, the everyday adventures in Town are infinite.

Peekaboo Barn:
Open up the world-famous Peekaboo Barn, perfect for toddlers. Inside the little bouncing barn, friendly farm animals are waiting to pop out and surprise your little one.

Four in a Row:
Connect 4 pieces of your color in a line before your opponent. Excellent for testing your skills or teaching strategy to kids. Have hours of fun with the 2-players mode on the same device, or play online against friends or other players from all over the world.
Or, try to beat a virtual player that can play at 3 levels of difficulty and see your improvements game by game.

Hopefully, this list provides a little bit of space between the “are we there yet” moments! With the little ones quietly entertained, you can sit back relax and enjoy catching up with all of your favorite gossip magazines.
